Welcome! I'm Professor L — a college writing instructor and composition coach passionate about helping students build real-world writing skills. Whether you’re here to brush up on grammar or sharpen your academic essays, I’m glad you stopped by.
Matthew Larrimore was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and has taught college-level writing and composition across the country for over a decade. After earning his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Northern Colorado in 2010, he completed a master’s degree in English at Northern Arizona University, where he began his teaching career as an instructor of first-year composition. In 2013, Matt relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in English at Old Dominion University, continuing to teach composition and literature while also working with a community writing center.
Over the years, Matt has taught at multiple institutions, including Northern Arizona University, Old Dominion University, Front Range Community College in Colorado, and Harford Community College. He has taught courses in developmental English, composition, literature, creative writing, and academic writing. In 2020, he returned to Maryland and joined the faculty at Stevenson University, where he currently teaches composition and introduction to creative writing.
Matt’s professional expertise centers on helping students develop strong writing, research, and critical thinking skills through a process-oriented approach to composition. He has served as an editor for several academic and literary journals and remains active in promoting accessible, engaging instruction in college writing. In his free time, Matt enjoys tabletop gaming, video games, and exploring nonfiction storytelling.
Here in the Lab, I combine years of classroom experience with practical exercises and audio guidance to help you build stronger sentences, smarter paragraphs, and better essays.
